Exploring Kisumu:
A Beautiful Haven in Kenya

For those seeking an adventure in an exotic location, Kisumu in Kenya is a must-visit destination. Kisumu, situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, offers stunning views of the lake and beautiful mountain ranges. I recently visited Kisumu with Felipe, who was there for work, and spent most of my time exploring the city. From the beautiful Acacia hotel to the Impala sanctuary to the Kisumu Yacht club, there was something for everyone. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my travel experience, including some tips and suggestions for those visiting Kisumu.

Acacia Hotel

Our accommodation, the Acacia hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. It boasts stunning views of both Lake Victoria and a distant mountain range, providing the perfect backdrop for any nature lover. If you're looking to maximize your experience, I recommend staying in a room with views of the lake. Trust me, waking up to the calm waters of the lake is a priceless experience. But the best part about the hotel is its rooftop restaurant, which offers an unobstructed view of the lake, the perfect ambiance for dinner later in the evening.

Impala Sanctuary

During my trip, I visited the Impala Sanctuary, a conservation centre that protects wildlife found within the Kisumu region. I was impressed that the sanctuary was now using ecitizen to admit guests, which made registration a breeze. This made gaining entry very simple and helped in reducing lines and time spent waiting. It was fulfilling to witness how committed the wildlife conservation team is to preserve the environment and wildlife of Kisumu. It was a wonderful experience, and I couldn't recommend the sanctuary enough for a fun-filled day with family and friends.

Kisumu Yacht Club

To cap off my trip, I had dinner with a group of colleagues at Kisumu Yacht Club. While it is not entirely true to label it as such, this place is still fantastic for its location, which gives you a breathtaking view over the lake while enjoying a romantic dinner at sunset.

Yacht Club

The night fishermen on the lake add to the surreal ambiance of the experience. But if you are not familiar with the area, it can be difficult to access, so be sure to either have direction or go with someone who knows the area well.

More to see!

Overall, Kisumu, Kenya, provides the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation to keep any traveler entertained. Acacia hotel, which I highly recommend, is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring and hiking. The sunsets at the Kisumu Yacht Club and a visit to the Impala Sanctuary add adventure to the mix, making Kisumu the perfect destination for solo travelers, couples, and families. So why not put this beautiful city in your travel plans, I think 2-4 days in more than enough time to explore what Kisumu has to offer.

Until our next Adventure...
