Baboons!

Kitengela Hot Glass is located on the outskirts of Nairobi, in a quiet and remote location, surrounded by nature. Upon arrival, we decided to head to the bridge located on the grounds. It cost 300 shillings per person and you get a guide to take you down to the bridge. When we arrived, we were greeted by a herd of baboons that were loitering on the bridge. Although a bit intimidating, this sight was certainly a unique way to start our day at Kitengela Hot Glass.

Wine, Food, & Shopping!

After crossing the bridge, we grabbed some coffee and enjoyed a selection of pastries sitting in the lovely outdoor space. We browsed through the stunning glasswork sculptures that were displayed for purchase, and admired the intricate details of each piece. We were then informed that the glassblowing session was about to start, so we made our way to the studio.

Glassblowing

The studio was a wonderland of creativity and art. The temperature was hot and humid, which is typical in a glassblowing studio, but it added to the atmosphere. As the glassblowers guided us through the glassblowing process, we were amazed by how simple yet complex it was to create their art. We selected our colors and patterns, and with their guidance, created our very own his and her wine glasses. It was a satisfying experience to see our creative abilities come to life through glassblowing.
